Carbon Monoxide...yikes!!
So I was at my Mom's Wednesday night and I was getting ready to leave and I had to use the bathroom, as I came out of the bathroom I smelled something. I wasn't sure what it was but its seemed to be coming out of the laundry room where our heater and water heater are located. So I called my mom downstairs and she smelled it too which is surprising since she can't smell very well because of her sinuses. Now we want a third opinion, we call Tyler and he comes home too and he agrees with our conclusion. At this time we think its a gas leak, so we called Voigt plumbing and heating and no answer. So mom calls 911, and proceeds to tell the woman that we think we might have a possible gas leak...She yells at my mom, "GET OUT OF THE HOUSE IMMEDIATELY, DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING AND TURN ANYTHING OFF" However, my mom had to grab her coat and her purse, So Im waiting outside and I see all the firemen drive by to the station, and then I see the lights flashing in the distance and I kept thinking to myself....PLEASE DON'T TURN ON THE SIRENS, PLEASE DON'T TURN ON THE SIRENS! The firefighters had to have the gas company turn off the gas and electricity before they could enter the house and found out we had carbon monoxide in our house and our darn co2 detector never even went off! Wow, what an interesting night, we stood outside for an hour an 15 minutes and I had a sleepover with my parents at my apartment! We are now replacing our furnace and water heater but we suspect it was coming from our heater. Please everyone go out and by a co2 detetor buy a more expensive one that detects gas and co2 leaks! You never know right!!!
